Once, when I was a little girl, I was with my mom in the video rental section at the grocery store. I wandered over to the NES games, and was tickled pink when I saw the title, “A Boy and His Blob.” It seemed so utterly delightful! I asked if we could rent it, then very happily brought it home and played it for the week we had it.
During the summer of 2011, I learned that “A Boy and His Blob” had been remade for the Wii. I was ecstatic, but circumstances prevented us from buying it (that whole homeless thing). I made it my goal to play that game, one day. This was nostalgia at work here.
Days passed. Months passed. I waited. And waited.
So, it was extremely awesome when I opened up my Christmas present from my Lover, and saw that he had given me a Wii game — I knew exactly what it was before I looked at the title. A BOY AND HIS BLOB!!!
The premise of the game is that you play as a boy, running around and feeding a white blob different flavors of jelly beans to make it turn into various things, solving puzzles in order to advance. And, as an added bonus, you can also give the blob as many heart-felt hugs as you want — which in my case, that means quite a few.
Since I worked extra hard to get a lot of sewing projects done for Christmas, I’ve decided that it’s time for me to take a break. I’m going to be working on my puzzle solving skills, my reflexes, and my hand-eye coordination for awhile — at least until the sewing bug bites me again.
